with all kinds of things and people i love quite dearly.
I had the day off at work so Sarah and I took a little day trip to Austin! We started with a quick stop at The Domain to run into Madewell and Anthropologie and then headed to Mozart's for the majority of the afternoon. The amount of time I've spent on the deck of this coffee shop is quite remarkable especially considering I do not, nor have I ever, lived in Austin. The coffee's good, the view's great, and the company always consists of a handful of labs and golden retrievers. That combo is what keeps me coming back for more ladies and gentleman. After a few hours of remembering and recording what a surprising and full year 2013 had been we headed out in search of dinner. I have this rule when I come to Austin...I've got to go to at least one new place (preferably and most often some sort of dining establishment). Some of the jewels I've discovered over the years include Elizabeth St Cafe, Torchy's Tacos, HomeSlice Pizza, Lucky Robot, Gourdough's, Mellizoz Taco's, and Z'Tejas. The rule is getting harder to abide by but it hasn't failed me yet! Compliments of an instagram recommendation, we stumbled upon 24 Diner and wooweee it did not disappoint. We both got burgers and fries and they were deeeelish.
But perhaps the highlight of the day was getting to meet this angel! Baby Whimsy! My adventurous, sweet and very talented friend Mary happened to still be home for the holidays and invited us over to meet this little cutie. Mary and her husband moved to Portland this past year so I never imagined I'd get to meet baby Whimsy while she was still just that, a baby! On the drive home Sarah and I talked about how amazed we were by...
1. How perfect Whimsy is. The little lady didn't fuss once the whole time we were there. She just babbled away, always kept one eye on mommy and daddy, yet was content to let me hold her all night. Such a little gift from God this one!
2. The hospitality of Mary's family! Sarah had never met Mary or her family and I'd only met Mary's dad and Marten once before. But man oh man did they make us feel welcome! Just like part of the family.
This whole day was filled with sweet reminders of the kindness and goodness of God in my life and in the lives of those around me. Looking forward to all the goodness this next year holds!
